The story then talks of how the two brothers are dealing with living together and how to trust one another again. Sknnys Sonny and his brother share a beer, he crushes the beer can, we can image the smell or perspiration during the hot New York City summer, and the scene where his uncle is murder brings to mind all 5 senses in a tragic crescendo.

In blkes story the author does show that the family is supportive of Sonny and his recovery, but also brings a dark tone when speaking of the dssay addiction his brother suffers from and the sadness it brings to the whole family. The tone of the story was compassionate and caring. When Sonny literarj comes back from the war, the two brothers finally see each other weeks after Sonny returned home, leading to the climax of the story.
